Information on services and facilities available to eligible appointees retiring from University service: (Effective February 1, 2014)

Eligible Retirees

Eligible Retirees for this purpose are categorized into 2 groups with respect to the number of years they have served the University prior to retirement or completion of service:

"Eligible Retirees with 10 years or more service"
They are appointees with 10 years or more full-time continuous service immediately prior to retiring from University appointment (i) on regular Terms of Service ("TOS")/Continuous Appointment ("CA") mode; OR (ii) on completion of contract upon reaching age 60 or the day immediately prior to the 60th birthday or beyond.

"Eligible Retirees with less than 10 years' service"
They are appointees with less than 10 years' full-time continuous service immediately prior to retiring from appointment on regular TOS/CA mode.

Eligible Retirees are required to provide proof of identity to the service providers. A free e-mail service will be provided by the Information Technology Services Centre (ITSC) for Eligible Retirees upon application. The service includes:

  • the provision of a new e-mail account- This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. This e-mail account can be accessed through http://webmail.e.cuhk.edu.hk or other common e-mail programmes such as Outlook, Gmail, etc.
  • the provision of a reminder about the new personal email address to sender who sends an email to the retiree's previous e-mail address used before leaving University service.

Eligible Retirees and their spouses may apply for a library card at a nominal fee, which is valid for 3 years and renewable. Cardholders are entitled to the use of library facilities and onsite access to the library resources, including most of the databases. Eligible Retirees with 10 years or more full-time continuous service immediately prior to retiring from University service are eligible for the use of sport facilities (including tennis court, badminton court, squash court, soccer pitch and water sport facilities) managed by the Physical Education Unit at a charge. The parking label already issued to an appointee before cessation of service will be valid up to the expiry date indicated on the label. Eligible Retirees with 10 years or more full-time continuous service immediately prior to leaving University service may apply for an 'S' label upon departure, which can be used on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays. Employment Certification

If the retiring appointees need certification of service at the University, they may complete and return the request form to the Personnel Office. The normal processing time is 7-10 working days. Enquiries: 3943 7332 or 3943 9512.

 

Privilege Card (Town Health Medical Network Services Ltd.)

The Town Health Medical Network Services Ltd. offers eligible University former appointees and their dependent family members a voluntary Privilege Card Scheme (which entitles the card-holder to a special fee or a discount off the walk-in rate when visiting its designated clinics under the Scheme). The Scheme is not part of the University’s benefits. Network of Ageing Well for All (NAWA)

CUHK Jockey Club Institute of Ageing (IOA) has set up the Network of Ageing Well for All (NAWA) to foster older people in building an age-friendly Hong Kong. It serves as a platform for older people from all strata to create social impact for betterment of the community so that their voice can be heard and to enjoy the wide range of activities/programmes arranged from time to time.
